While teaching and performing in Pushkar, India, at Colleena Shakti’s School of Dance in February 2011, Helm created this piece from the traditional Ghoomar melody adding original music sections set to a Karachi rhythm to provide a platform for a fusion of Rajasthani dance and ATS® (American Tribal Style® dance). Colleena and Megha Gavin of Devyani Dance Company were instrumental in shaping the composition and creating a choreography which they performed at Devotion- Home (2011) produced by FatChanceBellyDance® in Berkeley, CA and at Tribal Union (2011) produced by Tamarind Tribal Belly Dance in Milwaukee, Wi.

The dolak drum is played by Nizam Khan Langa from the Sindh desert; nay, sajat (finger cymbals) and vocals by Ling Shien Bell. Ling Shien also wrote the original sections. Thanks to Colleena for helping get the lyrics and thanks to Vikas Hegde and Colleena for translations. Recorded in Pushkar, India and at Little Buddha Studio in San Rafael, CA. Cover photo by C.M. DeSpears, taken at the Milwaukee show. Cover artwork and design: Liz Malcolm, Birmingham, AL.
